Pine Run’s Associate Appreciation Day …’70s Style!
Executive Director Cathleen Stewart says, “It feels wonderful to applaud our Associates for their creative initiative, and to see them learning, growing, and taking pride in delivering services that are driven by a desire to make someone’s day brighter and better.”
Sardi Zeneli, a certified nursing assistant, took home a $500 prize after his selection as the Five Star Award winner at Pine Run’s Associate Appreciation Day event held on Friday, June 3. Zeneli was the only recipient of the award given in recognition of exemplifying the Make Their Day! service philosophy and living the Pine Run Mission all year round.
“Sardi’s name is frequently mentioned on our patient satisfaction surveys with praise for his caring service,” said Gigi Cox-Malescio, director of nursing at Pine Run’s Health Center. “He has the ability to make patients feel comfortable asking for assistance with the most personal care needs. Sardi’s fellow associates and shift supervisors know when he is on the schedule, the eight hours just flow a little easier because of his commitment to quality and his strong work ethic.”
In addition to his full-time work at Pine Run, Zeneli is enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology in Willow Grove. Zeneli’s favorite aspect of caregiving is connecting with patients. “I was inspired to pursue nursing when my grandfather was suffering with leukemia in 2008. He did not speak English, and in the time I spent at his bedside at Doylestown Hospital, I witnessed a nurse who was able to give him comfort despite the language barrier and the complications of his illness,” recalled Zaneli. “Now I feel honored to gain the trust of vulnerable patients who need my care.”
