Bereavement Support Group
Loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult aspects of the human experience. Few things leave us as confused, torn, lost, lonely, and devastated. The Bereavement Support Group at Pine Run Retirement Community provides education and support for those who have experienced loss of a loved one. There are no requirements for members of the Pine Run community to attend.
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are many benefits of bereavement support groups. They play an important role in the emotional well-being of our residents and their families as they are confronted with serious illness.
Participating in a bereavement support group has many benefits. They include:
- Providing hope and healing in a compassionate setting.
- Reminding participants that they are not alone.
- Providing a different perspective.
- Teaching coping skills.
- Providing empathy in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
- Offering a sense of belonging.
- Giving the participants permission to grieve and still live a happy, productive life.
Individuals at Pine Run who have participated in our Bereavement Support Group say the experience helped them deal with their grief over losing a loved one when they felt isolated and lost.
At Pine Run, we encourage individuals to seek support from our Bucks County Bereavement Support Group, which provides information, advice, understanding and emotional support from peers.
