Pine Run Retirement Community, 777 Ferry Road, Doylestown, hosts a selection of short documentary films at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2, presented by Bert Shapiro, a retired publisher at 65 and a filmmaker at 84.
Join in the conversation about how his experiences have brought him many new friends in the United States and around the world. By making films, he has learned about the oyster-growing region in Oregon, acting on the New York stage, building a pipe organ in Los Angeles, tango dancing in rural Pennsylvania, cigar making in Manhattan, soap boxing in London, and more.
Shapiro enjoys showing his films, sharing his experiences and answering questions about how you can tell your story.
With virtually no filmmaking experience, Shapiro began with an inexpensive camera and a little help from a local student.
The event includes “Let’s Tango,” a look into an often-mysterious dance that’s enjoying a worldwide renaissance.
