The Annual Associate Recognition Dinner, held on Wednesday, Januaryย 25, 2017ย in the auditorium at the Pine Run Community Center, was an event full of powerfulย moments. Thirty-three associates wereย honored for their tenured service.ย

Sue Barger, Controllerย atย Pine Run,ย received a standing ovationย for serving 35 years at the community. In theย pioneeringย years, Pine Runโs Financial Services office was located onย State Streetย in Doylestown. โIn those days, I had to drive over to the Ferry Road campus once a month just to print financial reports on the room-consuming mainframe computers,โ recalled Barger. โTheย early years were ripe with stories of an unseen ghost named โGeorgeโ in the Pine Run Inn and excitement about new concepts, such as Transitional Care, in senior living.โ Over the decades, Sueโs stalwart presence has beenย a calming influence in the financial office. โShe keeps us organized and on track with all financial reporting activities and record keeping in all levels of living,โ noted Dave Charter,ย Seniorย Director of Finance.
Sandreen Brown-Bartholomew, a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years, stood at the podium humbly accepting praise for making a 60-mile round trip daily from her home. โOver the years,ย Sandreenโs stalwart presence has beenย essential to mapping the positive journey of care at Pine Run,โย reflectedย Michelle Haughney, Senior Administrator of Pine Run’s Health Center. โShe and her teammates ably share the stress of today’s complex care and make the best of every day by joking with residents.โ
Executive Director Cathleenย Stewart said, โIt is no coincidence that the fantastic flow of ideas from tonight’s honorees and their collaborative teams, has given rise to Pine Run’s renewal. We are excited to put ‘shovels in the ground’ in March when construction begins on our new $13 million Community Center project.ย I look forward to seeing how they unite to delight our residents during this next phase.โ
Anita Brooks,ย Manager of Special Care and Companion Servicesย for 30 years,ย was also saluted for her outstanding contributions.ย Maria Santangelo, Senior Director ofย Villager Services commented that โAnita’s natural resilienceย has been a comfort forย Villagersย and for the families that count on the community to care for their loved ones.โ Anitaย is now serving a second generation of retirees, and still findsย humor and opportunity in each day. โFinding paths to physical independence is important,ย and I still get a charge out of the novel ways our residents explore freedom of choice!โย laughed Anita.ย
