Ceremonial groundbreaking for the new HUB
celebrated at Pine Run
on April 11
The groundbreaking took place under abundant sunshine with leaders from Doylestown Health and Pine Run, Villagers, elected officials and guests in attendance. Flattering footage of the beautiful scene was captured by television cameras and aired that night on Action News.
Construction will begin soon on the new 36,000-square-foot Hub, which will provide a central location to become the new “heart” of the Pine Run community. The groundbreaking marked the beginning of several years of growth and expansion for Doylestown Health. Gorski Engineering of Collegeville is the general contractor for the project.
Villagers and guests attending the festivities heard about plans and features of the new Hub, Pine Run’s role in the local community, and the vision of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA), founders of Doylestown Hospital, which continue to inform the health and wellness activities of Doylestown Health.
The new Hub will include versatile spaces known as “galleries” for “food, fitness and fun.” In the first phase of construction, Villagers and their guests can choose from three indoor and two outdoor dining galleries overlooking the pond, as well as a café. The second phase will include the demolition of the current Hub and construction of a new, expanded fitness center with all new equipment, lots of space for classes and an indoor pool with a private changing area.
The milestone party also gave chance to spotlight Marge Dunkelberger, the Villager who has lived the longest at Pine Run, since 1992. Marge gleefully cut the cake to rousing applause and a jovial champagne toast capped the program.
