Tenured Associates Cherished at Pine Run
The Annual Associate Recognition Dinner, held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the auditorium at the Pine Run Community Center, was an event full of powerful moments. Thirty-three associates were honored for their tenured service.
Terrance Randolph, Senior Director of Human Resources, opened the ceremonies with a nod to the backdrop of colorfully wrapped recognition gifts, and gave rousing
Sue Barger, Controller at Pine Run, received a standing ovation for serving 35 years at the community. In the pioneering years, Pine Run’s Financial Services office was located on State Street in Doylestown. “In those days, I had to drive over to the Ferry Road campus once a month just to print financial reports on the room-consuming mainframe computers,” recalled Barger. “The early years were ripe with stories of an unseen ghost named ‘George’ in the Pine Run Inn and excitement about new concepts, such as Transitional Care, in senior living.” Over the decades, Sue’s stalwart presence has been a calming influence in the financial office. “She keeps us organized and on track with all financial reporting activities and record keeping in all levels of living,” noted Dave Charter, Senior Director of Finance.
Sandreen Brown-Bartholomew, a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years, stood at the podium humbly accepting praise for making a 60-mile round trip daily from her home. “Over the years, Sandreen’s stalwart presence has been essential to mapping the positive journey of care at Pine Run,” reflected Michelle Haughney, Senior Administrator of Pine Run’s Health Center. “She and her teammates ably share the stress of today’s complex care and make the best of every day by joking with residents.”
Executive Director Cathleen Stewart said, “It is no coincidence that the fantastic flow of ideas from tonight’s honorees and their collaborative teams, has given rise to Pine Run’s renewal. We are excited to put ‘shovels in the ground’ in March when construction begins on our new $13 million Community Center project. I look forward to seeing how they unite to delight our residents during this next phase.”
Anita Brooks, Manager of Special Care and Companion Services for 30 years, was also saluted for her outstanding contributions. Maria Santangelo, Senior Director of Villager Services commented that “Anita’s natural resilience has been a comfort for Villagers and for the families that count on the community to care for their loved ones.” Anita is now serving a second generation of retirees, and still finds humor and opportunity in each day. “Finding paths to physical independence is important, and I still get a charge out of the novel ways our residents explore freedom of choice!” laughed Anita.
A member of Doylestown Health, Pine Run is a non-profit provider of independent residences for men and women living in the bonus years. Additional levels of personal care, post-rehabilitative therapies, secure Alzheimer’s care, and skilled nursing are also available to the local community.
