Doylestown, PA (November 12, 2021) – Doylestown Health, a healthcare network that has delivered high quality care to the Doylestown community for nearly 100 years, announced today that, in keeping with its commitment to protect the health and safety of its patients, staff, volunteers and the community, 100% of its workforce is now fully compliant with its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
On August 6, 2021, Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Hospital Medical Staff, and Pine Run Retirement Community announced their COVID-19 vaccine mandates, with clear guidance on the pathway to becoming compliant by 11/11/21.
From the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Doylestown Health has been researching and staying current with scientific studies and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as state and local health departments.
“We implemented this requirement after extensive research and careful consideration and were fully confident that the 100% vaccination requirement would be the most effective way to ensure patient, staff, volunteer and community member safety,” said Scott S. Levy MD, Doylestown Health Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “This requirement is an extension of our organization’s belief that following the science is the most effective way to serve our community.”
Given the spread of conflicting and misleading information, Doylestown Health offered a variety of educational opportunities regarding the vaccine and online submission of questions to assist staff who had inquiries about the vaccine, needed clarity on the mandate or otherwise had been hesitant about getting vaccinated. In addition, the health system worked to make vaccines as accessible as possible and offered multiple on-site clinics with free vaccinations, as well as accepted documented vaccination by other providers.
“We are beyond grateful to our, associates, medical staff, and volunteers who support patient and coworker safety every day and are proud of the fact that Doylestown Health was one of the first health systems in our region to require the vaccine,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health. “Our health system has embraced the vaccine as the priority step for our community as well as the U.S. to overcome the virus, and we continue our dedication to working with our community to increase vaccination rates.”
“Requiring the COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment is consistent with Doylestown Health’s long-standing policy that all employees be vaccinated for other infectious diseases. Our health system has embraced the vaccine as the priority step for our community as well as the U.S. to overcome the virus, and we continue our dedication to working with our community to increase vaccination rates.”
