DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (July 23, 2018) – Maria Santangelo was promoted to Executive Director of Pine Run Retirement Community, announced Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health.

The Norristown native served as Interim Executive Director since 2017. She joined Pine Run in 2010 as Senior Director of Villager Services, overseeing the majority of independent living services. Pine Run is an integral part of the Doylestown Health system and its broad spectrum of services in the continuum of care.
Pine Run continues to grow and re-invest in Villager services and facilities. The new $13 million Hub under construction will serve as the community center, offering dining options, recreation and fitness amenities that include a swimming pool, and educational opportunities.
“We want to make Pine Run the destination for healthy retirement living,” said Maria.
Maria graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA with a degree in Social Work, and earned a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. She is currently working toward a Doctor of Health Administration degree from Phoenix University. After earning her undergraduate degree, Maria volunteered two years with the United States Peace Corps in Nepal. Maria has returned to Nepal twice since serving with the Peace Corps, as recently as February 2018.
Maria’s professional experience includes working with students with developmental disabilities, as an occupational therapist, a rehabilitation director and as co-owner of an outpatient rehabilitation company prior to joining Pine Run in 2010.
Maria lives in Jeffersonville, PA with her dog, Gizmo. Her volunteer experience includes working with the Special Olympics for 15 years.
