Pine Run Retirement Community’s dedication to wellness can be seen clearly at the Pine Run Community Center, affectionately known as “The Hub.”

Opened in 2019, the 37,000-square-foot Community Center features an auditorium, two dining venues, and a fitness and aquatics center to promote healthy living. The state-of-the-art facilities were designed with the understanding that health and wellness are multi-dimensional, encompassing the whole person.

Residents and visitors alike find their way here for haircuts, mail, meetings, entertainment, banking, fitness, the concierge and a convenient country store. The community center is also where you can pick up a game of billiards, join in book discussions, or engage in conversation over cocktails in the welcoming Grille or fireside in the lounge.

Fitness Center Supports Physical Activity

Whether it’s swimming, walking, yoga, Tai Chi, or lifting weights, exercise is one of the best things a person can do to maintain or boost all aspects of health. From improving sleep to reducing depression to promoting cognitive, heart and overall health, a wellness program offers older adults the chance to thrive.

Pine Run residents have boundless opportunities to exercise in the 6,777-square-foot fitness center, which is equipped with state of the art Matrix and Nu-Step strength training and fitness equipment, plus a therapy table, free weights, power-bands, ballerina-balance barre and much more. Fitness at Pine Run is highly personalized; programs are offered at the individual’s own pace and are supported by caring, trained professionals. Pine Run’s Healthy Living and Wellness Team seeks input from Villagers, Residents and Associates alike as it plans new programs.

Aquatics Center Offers Exercise and Recreation

Furthering its commitment to wellness, Pine Run offers aquatic Pine Run poolprogramming with a stunning 40-foot by 20-foot pool. Featuring tiles in soothing colors, the 4-foot-deep pool includes a wheelchair lift, specially designed stairs, and surrounding railings for full accessibility. It is enclosed in a welcoming room with 8-foot-high stone accent walls, decorative sconces, acoustic cinder block to soften noise, and speakers to broadcast music and programming.

Pine Run’s senior aquatic program offers users opportunities to enjoy the countless benefits of swimming and water exercise in a beautiful space, flooded with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, which can open to the inviting deck weather-permitting. Several multi-level aquatic therapy classes are offered to meet the needs and interests of Villagers, who also are encouraged to invite visiting family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to join them in the pool.

Flexible Options Meet a Variety of Needs

  • Exercisers can choose from more than 30 group classes each week.
  • Villagers and Associates can be trained by degreed, credentialed staff to use equipment and work out independently.
  • Villagers may work with a professional, on-staff personal trainer during routine exercise, either alone or with others.
  • Villagers also may hire a personal trainer for more individualized instruction.
  • Villagers can easily transition from physical therapy to fitness with personalized programs co-designed by physical therapists and fitness associates.

The fitness center’s spa-like environment features five spacious private changing rooms that can accommodate a couple who may wish to help one another, or a resident and a caretaker. Complete with mosaic tiles, specially designed benches, and single-surface Corian tiled floors, the locker rooms are designed with the highest standards of style and comfort while remaining ADA compliant. A spinner dries bathing suits in a matter of seconds, and freshly laundered towels are provided daily.

Outdoor Dining and Recreation Promotes Socialization

The outdoor area surrounding the Pine Run Community Center offers a beautifully enhanced shuffleboard area outdoor dining at Pine Runand bocce ball courts, bordered by sweeping views of the surrounding lush landscape. Ample seating offers the opportunity to take in the serenity of a quiet space overlooking a pond that is home to fish, turtles and frogs and many feathered friends. A greenhouse, rain garden and small waterfall complete this unique natural area.

Healthy food options are available on a spacious outdoor patio. Villagers are welcome to dine outdoors, chat with friends and family, and enjoy the food and natural beauty of Pine Run that nourishes the soul and spirit.
